A holiday in Puglia is never forgotten. Between architecture, beaches, festivals and gastronomy, Puglia with its beauties is a destination that lends itself to the creation of multiple itineraries depending on the type of holiday you are looking for. That’s why we created this section: to help those who are trying to organize a holiday in Puglia to decide where to go and which itinerary to follow.

Before leaving, however, it is good to distinguish Puglia into the various areas that constitute it. Yes, Puglia is a “continent”, in the sense that within it we find 6 well-defined areas, each characterized by some peculiar characteristics. Below we present them to you.

  1. Salento: the area preferred by tourists in the summer and consequently more frequented. In Salento the sun kisses you all year round. The charm of Baroque art, the excellent Mediterranean cuisine and sincere hospitality welcome you in a dream landscape, from the Adriatic coast with the marinas of Melendugno, Santa Cesarea Terme and Otranto, to the Ionian that bathes Porto Cesareo, Porto Selvaggio and Gallipoli.
  2. Itria Valley: this is the area of the Trulli surrounded by vineyards and olive groves as far as the eye can see. The landscape fills the gaze with a timeless magic, in the heart of fascinating villages such as Ostuni, Alberobello, Locorotondo, Martina Franca and Cisternino.
  3. Magna Grecìa: here an incredible landscape awaits you, to discover canyons, crypts and caves, walking through vineyards and olive groves, ancient villages and artisan workshops, until you dive into the blue of the Ionian Sea. In the Alta Murgia barese and in the surroundings of Taranto the ravines make the landscape unique: here, in the largest canyons in Europe, the rock civilization was born.
  4. Bari and the coast. The capital of Puglia has a thousand faces to discover. Take a slow walk in the alleys of the historic center, admiring the colors of the artisan workshops. Travel back in time in Giovinazzo, among the streets of the ancient fortified citadel and the characteristic little port, and in Molfetta discover the secrets of the Knights Templar. The lights of the coast are reflected in the waters of the Adriatic in Polignano a Mare, perched on the high cliff.
  5. Imperial Puglia: land of castles, cathedrals and splendid cities of art, this area is home to Castel del Monte, a UNESCO World Heritage Site: the mysterious manor built by Frederick II that dominates the countryside of Andria. In the Alta Murgia National Park the seasons pass and new colors draw emerging rocks, centuries-old carob trees and Mediterranean scrub bushes. Fill your eyes with the wonders of nature also in Margherita di Savoia, where the spas and ancient salt pans await you.
  6. Gargano: here nature reigns supreme. On one side the coast with spectacular inlets and caves, golden beaches and crystal-clear sea, on the other the woods and forests of the Gargano National Park. On the coast between Peschici and Vieste, singular wooden contraptions are suspended over the water: they are the “trabucchi”, ancient fishing systems, today seaside restaurants. On the horizon the Tremiti Islands, 5 square kilometers of wonders and multicolored seabeds for unforgettable dives.

Now that we have identified the 6 areas of Puglia, you can choose which itinerary to follow depending on what struck you most and the days you have available.
