5. Masseria Potenti – Manduria (TA)

“What is a masseria?” This is the question that is most often asked by foreign and non-foreign tourists. Masserie are ancient buildings, typical of southern Italy, very common in Puglia. In the past they were large agricultural companies with a rich land extension owned by local noble lords. Masserie were based on a self-subsistence system and inside, in addition to the home of the rich landowner, there were also the farmers’ lodgings, stables, storage for fodder and crops.

Today Masseria Potenti is a farm (about 130 hectares) that extends into the Mandurian countryside and a farmhouse. It was born from the dream and will of Maria Grazia Di Lauro and her husband Paolo, to want to pass on their love for their homeland to their children, Chiara and Walter and their friends.

The rooms of Masseria Potenti

Guests of Masseria Potenti enjoy exclusive privacy in the suites created from the old sheepfolds or in the farmers’ houses, all with living room, fireplace, air conditioning, mini-bar, private garden, where, on request, a romantic dinner can be served.

You can enjoy moments of intimate relaxation, for example, in the private pool or in the Arab garden protected by the ancient walls, dedicate yourself to reading in the shade of the centuries-old fig tree and get a massage in the oasis of prickly pears.

A day in Masseria Potenti

The morning begins with a hearty breakfast, the jams are those prepared with their fruit, as well as the cakes and donuts, freshly baked, prepared with the chicken coop’s eggs and their wheat.

At dusk, guests returning from their excursions will find the true atmosphere of the masseria; the poignant, fiery sunsets that reflect on the white lime walls give a magical light to the buildings. In this mystical moment, the only frenetic activity is that which can be seen from the large windows of the kitchen, from where the smells and aromas of Mediterranean cuisine come.

Dinner is served, guests sit around the long tables, who soon become part of a single group, where common interests are rediscovered, opinions are exchanged on excursions already made and on excursions to be made. At the buffet everyone can serve themselves as they like, the various courses will give the possibility to choose according to their tastes, but each food has in common a careful care in the choice of strictly fresh and seasonal products, coming from our land.
