The statue was placed at sea in 2012 to remember the victims of the Costa Concordia shipwreck and all the other people who died at sea. The scenery that opens up to the eyes of those who come from all over the world to admire the Madonna is truly evocative, with crystal clear waters and many colorful fish.

- You cannot miss a visit to Porto Cesareo, a well-known seaside and social resort, of which Torre Lapillo is one of the four coastal towers (together with Torre Cesarea, Torre Chianca and Torre Castiglione). Porto Cesareo is a very lively town in summer, ideal for spending a pleasant afternoon, having an aperitif at sunset in one of the many cafes, tasting the famous “pasticciotto leccese” a typical dessert, or for a romantic or family dinner in one of the many traditional restaurants.
- Not far from Torre Lapillo there is Punta Prosciutto, one of the best-known beaches in Salento. You can admire its clear and transparent waters, ideal for those who love to dive and want to have fun with their children.

- Last but not least, we mention San Pietro in Bevagna, another beautiful town on the Ionian coast of Taranto.
